Friends scoot happily along

After battling to get around for some time now, Inyoni Creek resident Tildy Eberhard is leaving her neighbours in the dust!

Tildy’s mobility was compromised by health challenges and tired of battling to get around, she decided to purchase a mobility scooter.

Long-time friend and housemate Sue Benjamin jokes that she couldn’t run after Tildy as she zoomed around on her scooter so she too decided to buy herself one and now the pair is a common sight, scooting around the village to various functions.

Tildy and Sue have been friends since the 1970s. They first shared a home when Tildy came to care for Sue’s late mom.

In the succeeding year, both continued to work in Johannesburg and on planning their retirement, they decided to invest in a property at Inyoni Creek.

That they were able to take their dogs along was the decision maker and Tildy and Sue were among the first group of residents to move into the Rand Aid retirement village in Lyndhurst when it opened in 2007.

Ready, steady, go… Tildy Eberhard and housemate Sue Benjamin.
