Life in the time of the coronavirus

Beating the lockdown blues at Thembalami:

Margaret Archer busies herself with an activity in the sun-filled occupational therapy room.

Heather Abrams is hard at work making special bags to sell at the next care centre fete – a cute picture of older people is hand painted on each bag.

Enjoying some TV in the Max Ordman Deaf Association lounge are Anette Mather and Theuns de Bruin.

Fresh air and sunshine:

Social worker Lara Hurwitz took resident Florence Millar for a walk in the care centre’s beautiful gardens. They ended up at the seating area overlooking the dam, where Florence and fellow resident Moira Dowds enjoyed a chat. Florence has been at Thembalami for only a short while and Lara enjoyed showing her the grounds and other common spaces. Moira is 93 and goes for a walk every morning, weather permitting.

Moira Dowds takes a daily walk whenever the weather is fine.
