Tarentaal chapel reopens

Rand Aid’s Tarentaal retirement village recently reopen its chapel for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdown regulations came into effect.

The chapel has been closed up for over a year, due to Covid-19 regulations, and it was filthy, says Tarentaal’s manager Tammy Neilson.

“We got a cleaning team in, five of our male residents helped us with maintenance and beautiful new flowers were arranged. Everything was spruced up.

“It was a lot of hard work, but the day the chapel opened was so rewarding. All of the residents who attended the first service came to the office to thank us,” she adds.

The chapel is complying with all Covid-19 regulations, including sanitising, social distancing and mask wearing, and only 20 residents are allowed entry per service.

Pictured below at Tarentaal’s chapel are Wini Dean and Judy Pearse, members of the Tarentaal Chapel Committee, who worked extremely hard to get the chapel up and running again. “We couldn’t have done it without them,” says Tammy.
