The Ron Smith Care Centre’s recreation team hosted a delightful flower-arranging party on January 17, bringing joy and creativity to residents.
Held at the care centre’s recreation centre, the event featured a vibrant assortment of flowers and greenery, with florist Lauri Kruger on hand to assist the residents.
Among the blooms were roses, gerberas (Transvaal daisies), chrysanthemums, lilies, sprays of various colours, eucalyptus, and leather leaf.
“Residents and staff had a wonderful time working with the brightly coloured flowers and delighted in creating something beautiful from nature,” says Debbie Christen, the care centre’s recreational and training services facilitator.
She says the activity evoked fond memories for many residents of gardening in years past, reconnecting them with the joy of tending to their plants and flowers.
After the arrangements were completed, the stunning floral creations adorned the tables, adding charm to the space. Residents and staff then enjoyed tea paired with iced chocolate cupcakes, rounding out the day with sweet treats and good company.
Reflecting on the event, Lauri says it was wonderful to see the joy on everyone’s faces and how the flowers brightened their day.
This blooming initiative was more than just a creative outlet – it was a celebration of nature’s beauty and its ability to spark happiness and cherished memories.
