What makes Thornhill Manor special?

Set on 14 hectares within a fully secured residential estate in historic Modderfontein on the eastern side of Johannesburg, Thornhill Manor is a village for retired individuals. It offers a serene environment surrounded by landscaped gardens and beautiful water features. Nearby, a peaceful conservation area invites residents to enjoy tranquil walks, bird watching and quiet relaxation in nature. The village fosters a close-knit, welcoming community.

Thornhill Manor, set on 14-hectares of land, is easily accessible off the N3 Modderfontein turnoff. It is conveniently close to shopping centres, a golf course and bowling club, services and other essential amenities, providing a comfortable and well-supported lifestyle for its residents.

Thornhill Manor offers two- and three-bedroom cottages, all north-facing, with two bathrooms, a patio and a courtyard. They are available for purchase on a life right basis to Elders aged 65 and over.

The kitchen has ample cupboard space and provisions for a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer.

Single or double garages with automated doors are assigned to each cottage. The cottages also have telephone sockets, a connection to a DStv satellite dish, and are fibre ready.

Should frail care be required, either temporarily or permanently, this is available at Rand Aid’s Ron Smith Care Centre or Thembalami Care Centre, both a mere 5kms away.

  • 101 Three-bedroom cottages: 136,2m² excluding garage.

All cottages have either a single or double garage, with automated garage doors.

Would you like to place your name on the waiting list?

If you are interested, you can place your name on the primary waiting list for Thornhill Manor by paying a small, refundable deposit. You can also be on the secondary waiting list for any other village of your choice at no additional cost. If you wish to be on an additional primary waiting list for any other village, an additional refundable deposit will secure a place. Please contact Thornhill Manor for more information.

A refundable deposit of R5000 is required to secure your place onto all our life right villages. Tarentaal requires a R2500 deposit. As soon as you get closer to the top of the list you will be contacted.

Solar installation surcharge:
A surcharge will apply to the selling price of life-right units fitted with, or to be fitted with, a solar system. The departing resident will receive compensation based on the depreciated value of the installation, calculated over seven years. This amount will be capped at the cost of a standard basic system, as determined from time to time.
