Rand Aid’s Thornhill Manor retirement village residents had to come up with an innovative solution to deter Egyptian Geese from colonising the village’s swimming pool and scaring enthusiastic swimmers and the water aerobics class away.
A clever initiative suggested by resident Jenny Brownson saw plastic imitation owls, with moving eyes and heads, being attached to the swimming pool’s fence. So far, it has been a success. Here’s hoping that the geese continue to buy the illusion!
