Elvis revival at Thembalami birthday bash

Three residents over the age of 90 were honoured at Themabami Care Centre and Max Ordman Deaf Association’s (MODA) monthly birthday bash on August 21.

The eldest resident whose birthday was celebrated was Eira Kennedy (97), followed by Rachel Lasker (96) and Joey de Souza (95).

Matt Stern, a singer, songwriter, actor and entertainer best known as Kurt Conradie on the SABC2 soapie 7de Laan, provided the entertainment.

Thembalami’s Elize Raath says that the birthdays of 12 residents and 13 staff members born in August were celebrated.

“Each resident received a gift and enjoyed cake, while Matt was incredible – the residents loved his Elvis Presley medley and other old songs.”
