The Tarentaal retirement village community officially opened its new residents’ lounge on November 10.
The village’s residents’ committee recognised a need for a dedicated, cosy space where residents could relax, unwind and socialise outside of the planned activities in the main hall.
Labour of love
“The committee worked tirelessly, pooling resources and inspiration to transform the area. The result is a truly vibrant and colourful space that feels like a home away from home,” says Lynn Barrow, the village’s deputy manager.
The lounge offers a mix of comfortable seating, from plush, patterned wingback chairs to classic recliners adorned with floral prints. Framed artwork and delicate ornaments, like the collection of figurines on the wooden shelf unit, add personal, thoughtful touches.
“The space is bright and welcoming, perfect for a quiet afternoon or an engaging chat with friends,” says Lynn.
A noticeboard in the lounge will be used to share photos of social events and promote village happenings.
