Rand Aid’s Ron Smith Care Centre (RSCC) residents gathered together on 6 May to celebrate Mother’s Day.
A lovely tea was enjoyed in the hall where a pink and white floral theme, with beautiful roses from the care centre’s gardens, donned the tables, and golden oldies music resulted in some spontaneous moving to music and lively hand-clapping and dancing.
Residents also enjoyed an array of sweet and savoury treats, sponsored by AVBOB. Sausage rolls, mini chicken pies and quiches, chilli bites, koeksisters, milk tarts, custard slices and lamingtons were on the menu, and residents loved the variety of the delicious food – so much so, that some couldn’t resist trying a bit of everything and were so full after morning tea that they didn’t have space for lunch!
“The Mother’s Day tea was the second RSCC event this year that residents and staff from all six residential wings could come together to enjoy music, dancing, food, fun and fellowship,” says Debbie Christen, Rand Aid’s manager of recreational programmes.
“Our residents love these social events and the opportunity to enjoy themselves in the company of their friends and neighbours,” she adds.
