Baking teaches life skills at SANCA Wedge Gardens

SANCA Wedge Gardens’ clients have been baking up a storm during their occupational therapy (OT) sessions.

“Our clients love to bake,” says the substance use treatment centre’s occupational therapist Caryn Berman.

“Baking helps them to develop their skills when it comes to following instructions. It also helps them to work in a consistent manner, as all items must be the same size when cut and must look appealing. The positive feedback they receive, when the baked goodies are eaten, also helps to improve self-esteem,” she adds.
