Shirley Whitehead received a standing ovation at her farewell function on November 30, when she bid Thornhill Manor Retirement Village a warm farewell.
For four years, the popular Shirley’s smiling face greeted residents and visitors of the village. During that time, she expertly manned the reception counter and took care of various administrative functions.
“The community hall overflowed with residents who gathered to show their respect and appreciation for her years of service,” says Thornhill Manor manager Esme Erasmus. “The number of residents and staff members at her farewell spoke volumes about the impact she had on us all.”
Even the village animals loved Shirley, says Esme. “The dogs couldn’t wait to get their treats from her, pulling their owners to the office whenever on a walk.
“Shirley was always helpful and efficient. She was part of the family and, as expressed by the village, will be greatly missed.”
