The smell of paint, the sound of gentle classical music and an air of peaceful focus fill the hall at Thornhill Manor retirement village on Monday mornings.
That is when resident Brenda Bromfield hosts her art classes. Relaxed and informal, the sessions see both beginners and more experienced artists set out their paints and brushes and quietly work on their acrylic and watercolour creations, while Brenda moves from table to table, offering advice and guidance.
The lessons are unstructured, allowing participants to paint subjects of their choice and work at their own pace.
Brenda has exhibited and sold her work at various exhibitions and also started ‘Art in the Park’ at Flamingo Dam, where artists would exhibit and sell their work.
A small fee is charged, and tea and coffee are served.
If you are keen to participate, pop in from 9:30am on a Monday. “Come have a look, chat to the artists and have a cup of coffee,” invites Brenda.
