Excitement filled the hall at Tarentaal Retirement Village on February 18 as residents turned out in their numbers for the year’s first friendship draw – with some very special four-legged guests stealing the show.
Tarentaal deputy manager Lynn Barrow says the highlight of the gathering was a visit from People and Wonderful Souls 4 U Therapy Dogs, who encouraged interaction among residents.
“The presence of therapy dogs encourages social interaction and creates a relaxed environment where residents can connect,” says Lynn. “Spending time with animals has also been shown to reduce stress and boost overall well-being, which is especially valuable in a retirement village setting.”
The friendship draw enables residents to buy tickets for a lucky draw, with six cash prizes up for grabs, while also offering an opportunity to socialise and strengthen community bonds.
