Max Ordman Deaf Association residents were thrilled to receive a visit from Miss Deaf South Africa 2023 finalist Monequ Edwards on 18 April.
“It was an honour to visit the residents and I had a wonderful experience… We talked and had a good time together and, even though we were only there for a short time, we made some lasting connections. It was genuinely heartwarming,” says Monequ.
“It’s amazing how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in people’s lives. I’m grateful that I took this opportunity to visit the care centre… I loved to see those who signed ‘thank you’ when I served them my homemade treats – I made cupcakes and milk tart, which were from my late grandmother’s recipes,” she adds.
The Miss Deaf SA 2023 finals will take place in Cape Town in September.
