Voices united in song when Rand Aid’s Tarentaal retirement village residents gathered in the hall for Christmas carols.
The theme was ‘Under the sea’ and residents could be excused for thinking they would need snorkels and goggles to enter because the room was overflowing with ocean-related décor.
After the sing-along, tea and eats were served.
“Resident Judy Pearse came up with the theme and, along with 14 other residents, organised the event. The decorations took three months to make – but the result was worth it. What an amazing sight it was,” says village manager Tammy Neilson.
Resident Judy Pearse was the main organiser of the event.
Jimmy Smythe, Gerard Hattingh (MC), Wini Dean and Dorothy Shaw were in charge of the music and ensuring the evening flowed smoothly.
