Blue skies and warm weather are predicted for Saturday, which is great news for people who intend to spend the morning at Thornhill Manor Retirement Village’s family fun day and fete.

This annual event attracts a flock of visitors, with interesting stalls, live entertainment and good food hallmarks of the event.

Come hungry – there will be boerewors rolls, egg and bacon rolls, German foods, pancakes, curry and rice, deli items and a tea garden.

Christmas is only two month-end pay days away and the fete offers the opportunity to find unique gifts. Browse the stalls that will sell, among others, honey and bee products, sewn and knitted items, books, CDs, DVDs, recycled cards, Christmas tags and crowns, home crafts, art, jewellery, calendars, decoupage, handbags, leather items, mosaic, and Disney collectables. The White Elephant stall – that staple of all fetes – is sure to hold hidden treasures.

There will be various raffles and live music by Rudi van Niekerk.

All profits go directly to the retirement village fund, to be spent on a project decided on by the residents.

DATE: October 14
TIME: 9am to 1pm
VENUE: Rand Aid’s Thornhill Manor, West Lake Drive,  Modderfontein
