South Africa’s aviation history reflects a legacy of both achievement and change, from early flight pioneers to decades of military training and service. For many Gautengers, the sight of Harvard trainers over the former East Rand remains a nostalgic image, recalling the role of Dunnottar Airbase as a key SAAF training hub. These and other memories were revisited when Inyoni Creek’s Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden (GOLF) social club visited the SAAF Museum in Pretoria. The museum is open from Monday to Friday (8am to 3pm). Entry is free, but a donation would be appreciated. Location: Air Force Mobile Deployment Wing Air (previously known as Air Force Base Swartkop), alongside Old Johannesburg Road in Valhalla, Pretoria.
