Thornhill Manor resident Dale Cherrington can proudly call herself a potjie queen!
She and her family won this year’s Lakeside Village Potjie Competition, held in one of the village parks on Saturday, May 24.
Their Coq au Vin, a classic French chicken dish, lived up to the team’s name – Le Meilleur, which means ‘the best’. They looked the part too, with each team member wearing a fetching apron made by Dale, bearing the colours of the French flag and topped off with French-style red berets.
Among the prizes was a R5 000 cash award, which the family plans to use to treat themselves to a fabulous meal out.
