On November 22, the Max Ordman Deaf Association (MODA) treated its residents to a fun-filled day of food, games and laughter.
The menu featured two steaming pots of homemade potjiekos – one chicken and one beef – which proved a huge hit. “The residents loved the food and many went back for seconds and thirds,” said social worker Lara Swanepoel, whose husband Ryan prepared the meal.
Residents also enjoyed a variety of games, including bingo – with numbers displayed rather than called aloud – Jenga, finger snooker, and mini golf. Thembalami Care Centre manager Esme van der Walt took on the role of bingo caller, ensuring everyone could join in.
Lara and Ryan’s young son, Bentley, added to the excitement, with his energy and quick smile bringing extra joy to the afternoon. Staff members Jane Mogwale, JT Ndou and Yvonne Mudau also assisted, making sure everyone had a wonderful experience.
The event gave MODA residents a day tailored just for them, filled with fun, food and connection – and left everyone smiling from start to finish.
