A room full of laughter, storytelling and warm hospitality set the tone for a memorable morning as Elphin Lodge residents and guests gathered for a well-attended coffee morning at the village hall on April 29.
The event drew 52 attendees for what proved to be a relaxed and thoughtfully organised social gathering.
Deputy village manager Hlumela Anderson says the gathering focused on comfort and connection. Attendees were seated at tables while tea, coffee, sandwiches and biscuits were served directly to them – a detail that was particularly appreciated.
“The setup allowed everyone to relax and socialise without having to move around for refreshments,” Hlumela says.
The highlight of the morning was a presentation by resident Laurence Newman, who shared stories from his travels through Ethiopia and northern Kenya. His talk combined vivid personal experiences with light humour, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
“The event was warmly received, and guests thoroughly enjoyed both the talk and the welcoming atmosphere,” she says.
The coffee morning forms part of Elphin Lodge’s ongoing efforts to create meaningful social experiences for its community, bringing residents and guests together in a friendly and engaging setting.
