Line dancing keeps Tarentaal residents moving

Line dancing is a fantastic, gentle way for older adults to stay active and healthy.

Ask Elaine Goldberg, a Tarentaal Village resident who offers weekly line dancing classes at the village hall.

She says it’s wonderfully social, easy on the joints and keeps your heart pumping without the strain of running. Best of all, those fun, rhythmic steps help build core strength and improve balance, which can help keep you steady on your feet and reduce the risk of falls.

A passionate dancer, Elaine says: “If I can get these ladies to move and have a bit of fun, that is reward enough for me. At the same time, I’m also exercising, which I don’t do much of anymore.”

Elaine charges a nominal fee of R20 per class and welcomes all residents to join her at the village hall from 10am to 11am every Tuesday to give line dancing a try.
