Bonnets and birthdays at Inyoni Creek April tea

Inyoni Creek’s themed birthday teas are a highlight on the retirement village’s social calendar – and with Easter celebrated in April, the theme for the fourth birthday celebration of the year was an obvious one.

Apart from raising a toast to those residents with birthdays in April, an Easter bonnet parade was incorporated into the April 10 event. Sheena Beauchamp’s colourful flower creation earned her the prize for best bonnet, while Mary Roberts won the Easter raffle hamper.

The gatherings give residents the chance to connect, celebrate one another and build a strong sense of belonging – in true Rand Aid Way fashion, where empathy, respect and community spirit are at the heart of every interaction.

Tarentaal retirement village resident Carmel Borland plays the keyboard at every birthday tea, providing the perfect background to the lively chatter that fills the village clubhouse, and a selection of scrumptious eats is laid out.

Village deputy manager Marinda Looyen arranges the food, and she and Inyoni staff member Merlin Thape are responsible for the set-up and décor.
