Games and activities designed for seniors not only promote fun but also significantly contribute to improving their quality of life.
“Physical activities like tossing-and-catching games help improve co-ordination, reflexes and grip strength, which are important for staying mobile and independent,” says Karen Griessel, the social worker at Thornhill Manor Retirement Village.
“The group setting also adds a valuable social element. It allows older adults and their caregivers to connect, encourage each other, and enjoy a supportive atmosphere filled with humour and shared experiences.”
Village resident Vicky Keenan, a qualified occupational therapist and DIY enthusiast, volunteers her time to develop new, innovative games to keep the group interesting, says Karen.
