Inyoni Creek retirement village was awash in emerald green as residents gathered for their monthly birthday tea, celebrating 16 March birthdays with a lively St Patrick’s Day theme.
The event, a much-loved fixture in the village social calendar, drew around 50 residents who came together for a morning of music and good cheer.
Most attendees embraced the theme wholeheartedly, donning green attire and sharing in the festive spirit. Village manager Jenny Tonkin kept everyone in stitches with a few classic Irish jokes, while Carmel Borland provided the perfect musical backdrop with traditional Irish tunes.
Every birthday tea features a lucky draw for the celebrants, and March was no exception. Three prizes were drawn from a hat, giving each birthday guest a chance to win, with the Joker Jackpot, currently at R26 000, adding extra excitement. Adeline Campbell walked away with the monthly raffle prize.
As always, refreshments were a highlight. Village deputy manager Marinda Looyen had arranged a tempting spread of snacks, giving residents plenty to nibble on while catching up with friends. The combination of good company, music, games and treats made for another memorable celebration at Inyoni Creek.
“These birthday teas have such a lovely vibe,” says Jenny. “It’s a wonderful chance to meet friends, share a cup of tea, enjoy the snacks, and just have fun together.”
