A second birthday celebration was held on November 15 for Georgina Faver, a resident of Rand Aid’s Thembalami Care Centre who turned 100 on November 4. On the day of her birthday, Georgina arrived at the lunch table to find festive balloons decorating her place, and soon after, staff members arrived bearing a special birthday cake. Her son, who lives overseas, sent her a gift basket and during a video call with him, everyone sang ‘Happy birthday’. Mid-way through November, at the care centre’s monthly birthday bash, she sat at the VIP table with six other residents who celebrated their birthdays in the month. Residents enjoyed cake, snacks and live sponsored entertainment by singer Ansa Naude.
