What started as one resident’s quiet idea has turned into a colourful craze at Elphin Lodge. Inspired by ‘Cape Town Rocks’, the ‘Elphin Rocks’ initiative invites people to paint and hide stones marked with the message: Elphin Rocks – Keep me or re-hide me.
Jenny Sella and the Elphin Lodge Art and Craft Group jumped in with paintbrushes at the ready, spending cheerful hours creating miniature works of art. Word spread, and soon other Rand Aid retirement villages were joining the hunt.
Now, the fun has gone intergenerational – with Elphin Lodge residents’ grandchildren not only painting rocks but eagerly hiding them.
With so many rocks on the move, Jenny and her team have their hands (and paint palettes) full trying to keep up with demand!
