Thornhill Manor Retirement Village’s Mandela Day beanie and scarf collection reached its final chapter with the handover of donations to Sasonah Lodge in Germiston on July 21 and Compass in Edenvale on July 22.
The village exceeded its goal of collecting 67 warm winter items, with additional beanies and scarves purchased through a fundraising donation by resident Vicky Keenan and her team.
Sasonah Lodge is a specialised residential care centre providing care for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, while Compass supports underprivileged women and children in the Edenvale community.
The handover reflected the generosity and compassion of Thornhill Manor residents, who came together to spread warmth beyond the village this Mandela Day.
