Village libraries keep bookworms happy

What better way to spend a winter afternoon than curling up with a good book? Rand Aid’s retirement villages boast well-stocked libraries, including this cosy space at Tarentaal Village. Run by dedicated volunteers and stocked through generous book donations, the library offers residents an ever-changing selection of reading material, including a prized collection of large-print books, as well as puzzles.

Pictured is Tarentaal resident Penny Warner, who reads an impressive three books a week on average. She says the library is accessible to everyone, with a once-off joining fee of just R20.

The Tarentaal library is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 09:00 to 11:00.
