Rand Aid Association’s various life right retirement villages enable its residents to embrace independent living and a lifestyle focussed on their needs and happiness.

Rand Aid is a well-established and successful non-profit organisation offering accommodation in a variety of independent-living retirement villages. Its well-appointed retirement homes, combined with its support structure, offer a carefree retirement to elders aged 65 and over.

While Rand Aid’s retirement villages are centred on the principle of independent living, it also offers continuous care, including assisted living, frail care and specialised memory care.

“Rand Aid’s retirement community model was introduced over 30 years ago. The philosophy of our retirement villages has always been about enabling our residents to live independently, in their own units, for as long as possible,” says Zabeth Zühlsdorff, Rand Aid’s general manager: services and advance division.

“Our villages are refined, quality housing developments. We offer a wide range of styles and home formats, in various price categories to suit various needs,” she adds.

A range of onsite facilities is available for residents, such as club houses, restaurants, , libraries, hair/nail salons, fitness centres and swimming pools. Residents also have access to cleaning and laundry services, and the maintenance of the common property gardens is outsourced.

Each village also has beautiful open spaces, where residents can spend quality time in nature walking or jogging, while enjoying the grounds and vast birdlife.

Although our residents live independently, Rand Aid encourages a range of social activities that everyone is free to participate in, including shopping trips, walking groups, art groups, fitness classes, games nights, afternoon movies and more. Living here enables one to become part of an active community and form new bonds with other like-minded residents.

“Our retirement villages are safe environments, with physical security a key pillar of our business philosophy. Gate access control, electric fences, CCTV cameras and patrolling security personnel are all in place to ensure that residents have peace of mind. This means you can spend long periods travelling, confident that your property and personal possessions are safe,” says Zabeth.

In addition, a nursing sister is based at each village to provide primary care management and health monitoring, and social workers are available to  enhance the well-being of  residents and assist with the complex needs that ageing sometimes brings.
