Spring clean your cupboards to support Thembalami Care Centre and Max Ordman Deaf Association

Have fun for a good cause at Thembalami Care Centre and Max Ordman Deaf Association (MODA)’s fete in Lombardy East, on October 28.

Run by NPO Rand Aid Association, Thembalami cares for senior citizens who cannot live independently, while MODA is home to older people with hearing challenges. Some residents receive little more than a government subsidy, and the annual fete raises funds to add warmth to their lives. The fete profits will be used to hire entertainers for events, for Christmas treats, and other niceties.

On offer will be a variety of food and other stalls, a tea garden, and Thembalami’s legendary white elephant table – where visitors are bound to find a bargain or two.

Members of the public can support the care centre by donating any unwanted items that are in good condition (glass, Tupperware, blankets, electrical appliances and goods, second-hand clothing, etc).

If you want to have a stall or donate goods, call Elize Raath or Esme van der Walt at 010 534 8771, or email them at eraath@randaid.co.za or evanderwalt@randaid.co.za, respectively.

Cash donations from businesses or individuals go a long way in assisting the care centre to provide enriching experiences and buy those little niceties that many of the residents themselves afford. If anyone would like to make a donation, please call either Elize or Esme.
