Inyoni Creek’s birthday tea brims with good times

Lucky draws, a tea table groaning with treats, and such lively chatter that the village manager chose not to interrupt best describe Inyoni Creek Retirement Village’s monthly birthday tea.

These themed teas are held to celebrate the birthdays of both staff and residents born in that month. Naturally, the theme for the May 8 gathering was Mother’s Day.

“Around 50 residents gathered in the clubhouse for the tea and got straight down to business: Catching up on each other’s lives,” said village manager Jenny Tonkin.

“The conversation was so lively that I didn’t have the heart to call for silence to officially welcome everyone or to wish all the mothers and May birthday celebrants the best.”

The Mother’s Day raffle was won by Chris Patterson, and three residents celebrating their birthdays were delighted to receive gifts after their names were drawn at random.
